We are building the operating infrastructure for the next era of insurance
“Insurance authority is moving from documents and institutional memory into executable systems. Facio exists to make that transition safe.”
Insurance gives people and organisations authority to act: to assess risk, make promises, bind coverage, collect premium and pay claims.
But much of that authority still depends on documents, spreadsheets, email and institutional memory. The contract describes what should happen; people carry the burden of making it happen.
Facio exists to change that.
Facio Labs, Inc. develops production insurance infrastructure and applied research for MGAs, Lloyd’s coverholders, programme administrators and other delegated-authority businesses. We translate products, contracts, authority, workflows and reporting obligations into controlled, executable operations.
The objective is not automation for its own sake. It is to help insurance organisations operate safely, efficiently and economically—while preparing them for a world in which people, software and AI agents increasingly work together.
Our mission is to make delegated insurance authority safe to operate, economical to scale and ready for the agentic era.
That means building systems capable of understanding:
We believe insurance is moving from digitised records toward executable risk systems.
Executable Policy State
A policy will no longer be only a document stored after a decision. It will be a living, versioned contract connected to its underwriting history, insured exposures, financial state, claims and reporting obligations.
Operable Binder Rules
A binder will no longer be only a description of delegated authority. Its permissions, limits and referral requirements will govern how the operation behaves.
Validated Real-World Data
External data—from brokers, connected devices, usage systems or spatial observations—will not move freely into policy state. It will be validated, interpreted through the contract and executed within approved authority.
Governed AI Intelligence
AI systems will help understand context, collect information, recommend actions and operate approved workflows. But probabilistic intelligence will not receive uncontrolled authority over regulated operations.
Agentic at the edge. Deterministic at the core. Human judgment where it belongs.
Built in real insurance operations
Facio’s research does not begin with abstract demonstrations. Insurance is our proving ground. Our ideas are tested against the realities of operating MGAs and coverholders:
This is where concepts such as contract state versioning, executable authority, connected risk and governed agent operations become more than technical ideas. They must survive contact with real contracts, real money and real consequences.
From research to production: two connected disciplines
Facio Insurance Platform
Our production platform connects product configuration, underwriting, rating, policy administration, billing, claims, payments, reporting and bordereaux in one insurance operating sequence.
Facio AI Labs
Facio Labs investigates the systems regulated organisations will need as AI moves from answering questions to taking action, including executable risk systems, contract state versioning, and deterministic agent boundaries.
What we believe
Authority should be executable
Rules should govern the operation directly rather than depend on people remembering what a document permits.
Automation should remain attributable
An automated action should have an applicable rule, an identifiable source and an explainable result.
Judgment should remain human where judgment is required
Technology should give authorised people better context and remove avoidable coordination—not conceal consequential decisions inside automation.
Complexity should live in the model, not in the operation
An unusual product may have complex economics, parties or reporting obligations. That does not mean every transaction should require a complex manual process.
Insurance infrastructure should be built to explain itself
A regulated operation should be able to reconstruct how a policy, premium, claim, payment or reported figure came to exist.
Student internships at Facio
Building safe and useful technology for insurance requires more than software engineering. It requires people who understand underwriting, actuarial science, data, finance, law, compliance, product design, geography, and artificial intelligence.

Facio Labs, Inc. is a Delaware corporation that leads the Facio group and its mission, intellectual direction and international development.
The group’s insurance technology, research and development activities are carried out through Facio Labs, Inc. and Facio Ltd., working together across production software, applied research and customer implementation.
We will consider our mission successful not only when Facio’s technology helps insurance organisations operate better, but when the principles we develop help the wider market build safer systems. The future of insurance should be more programmable without becoming less accountable; more intelligent without becoming less understandable; and more automated without losing the human authority on which trust depends. That is the future Facio is building.
